Digital cataract surgery allows us to begin to think outside the box. Here we present for the first time ever, coupling a digital operative microscope with infra-red illumination. We will discuss our initial experience and outcomes of cataract surgery performed using infra-red illumination, which has been incorporated into a digital 3D head-mounted display (HMD) system.
